Next Up: Charisma Club Fronts Spotify’s Fresh Finds AU/NZ Playlist

Auckland songwriter and producer Josh Stewart’s passion project Charisma Club recently landed the cover spot of Spotify AU/NZ’s flagship Fresh Finds playlist with the new single Your Love.

Driven by a mission to make “the coolest shit possible,” Stewart has carved out a signature feel-good sound packed with floaty synths, wide synth basslines, and Dayglow-esque production. On paper, ‘Your Love’ is the ultimate feel-good pop track, but underneath, it tells the story of a steadily disintegrating relationship where a hermit-like partner hides away with technology instead of communicating.

Opening with a vintage sample from an Aldous Huxley interview warning of technological overreach and parasocial behaviour, ‘Your Love’ tackles modern anxieties around AI and information authenticity in the poppiest way imaginable.
